If your EV hits zero on Tamiami Trail toward Shark Valley, stay put. Mark the exact US-41 pin, then tell an operator what the dash is showing. West of Tamiami and Sweetwater, you’re on the park approach. A vague Everglades pin sends help to the wrong gate.
Two park roads people mix up on the call
Everglades National Park has three separate entrances, and they do not connect. Shark Valley sits on US-41, Tamiami Trail. The main gate is on SR-9336 in Homestead. The Gulf Coast entrance is in Everglades City, outside this service area. If you died on the Homestead park road, you’re on a different dead-end. Name Shark Valley or Homestead, and do not blend those trips.
Tamiami is a census-designated place, not a city. Sweetwater is the city beside it. Florida International University’s Modesto Maidique Campus sits in that Sweetwater and Tamiami area. None of those is the Shark Valley gate. If you can still see FIU or Sweetwater streets, you’re not at the park. If you can read a Shark Valley sign, lead with that.
Alligator Alley is I-75, not Tamiami Trail. Empty on the Alley is a different corridor. Use the Alligator Alley out-of-charge steps if that’s where you stopped.
Say the trail, the direction, and one visible thing
Saying near Shark Valley covers too much pavement. Read the nearest sign as it’s printed.
Share only what you can confirm:
- US-41 or Tamiami Trail, copied from the sign
- Westbound toward Shark Valley, or eastbound back toward town
- The last numbered street, entrance, or landmark you can read
- A live map pin, plus a screenshot that still shows the route
- Whether the car is in a travel lane, a turnout, or a lot
If the phone pin and the roadside sign disagree, send both. Say which side of US-41 you’re on. A pin can look right and still point to the opposite shoulder. Mention a median, a closed gate, or a split driveway if you see one. Do not guess a mile marker you cannot read.
Drivers who stalled closer to the houses should open the Tamiami roadside assistance guide.
Get off the travel lane only if the car still can
Your first problem is the scene, not the pack. If you’re already clear of moving traffic, say so. If you’re not, describe that before anyone talks about a plug.
Florida Statute 316.194 covers a stop on a highway outside a municipality. Leave the vehicle off the main-traveled part when that’s practicable. Leave room for passing traffic, with a clear view from 200 feet each way. Section 316.194(2) exempts a genuinely disabled vehicle. That applies when it cannot practicably be moved off the road. This article cannot tell you to walk, stay inside, or cross traffic. If anyone is in danger, call 911.
FDOT runs the Road Ranger Service Patrol as Florida’s free highway patrol. Dial *FHP, which is *347, from your phone. Crews jump-start vehicles and change flats. They can also tow a disabled car off the travel lanes, free of charge. District 6 covers Miami-Dade on I-95, I-195, I-395, I-75, and SR-826, the Palmetto. Published Road Ranger material does not mention EV charging. They still jump a 12V and still move a dead car off a travel lane. They do not bring a Level 2 charge. Florida Highway Patrol takes disabled-motorist reports on the same *347 code. Florida 511 at FL511.com is FDOT’s traffic system in English and Spanish.
Do not assume you can roll into the next turnout. An EV at true zero may not finish another move. Report whether it still selects drive, steers, or releases the parking brake. Skip those tests if they put anyone in the lane. If a road worker is already there, share their instructions.
The freeway out-of-charge checklist covers the same Florida stopping rules.
Heat used the range, so copy the dash
South Florida is flat, so there is no grade penalty in Miami-Dade or Broward. Miami-Dade’s highest natural point is the Atlantic Coastal Ridge, at roughly 23 to 24 feet. Range on this drive is heat, air conditioning, and dwell, never terrain.
NWS Miami 1991-2020 normals put July and August average highs at 91F. About 64 days a year hit 90F or more. Recurrent Auto’s study of about 30,000 EVs found about 5% range loss at 90F. AAA’s 2019 test found about a 17% range drop at 95F with AC on.
A car that will not roll has not named its fault. Read the screen and copy it.
Send these details if you can see them:
- The displayed percent or estimated range
- Any out-of-energy message, copied word for word
- Any low-voltage warning
- Whether the center screen is still on
- Whether the doors and charge port still respond
- Any charging or system-fault text
Use the vehicle app if it still connects. Missing app data is not a diagnosis.
A 12V failure can look like an empty drive battery. Heat is hard on lead-acid 12V packs. About every 15F rise halves their life. They age about twice as fast at 93F versus 77F. Long airport parking is the usual 12V stall. A westbound Tamiami Trail run can still be a traction pack at zero. Say what the car reports, and do not pick the label yourself.
Skip improvised jumps and open panels. Charge Pro MIA does not diagnose the car and does not perform the work. The pros we connect you with are licensed and insured. Our EV roadside assistance service passes your vehicle details to an independent local operator.
Describe the last stretch a truck has to use
A correct pin does not describe the last stretch. Access decides whether a mobile charge is even possible.
Tell the operator if the EV is:
- Beside a live travel lane
- In a marked turnout or a parking area
- Behind a gate or on private property
- Facing toward the approach, or away from it
- Blocked by another vehicle or a fixed object
Report space around the charge port, and which side of the car it sits on. Do not roll the car just to make room unless the scene is safe. If the ground is private, say whether you can let the operator in.
Florida Statute 715.07 covers tows from private property. If you appear before the car is fully removed, the tow operator must stop and return it. You then pay no more than one-half the posted tow rate. Miami-Dade requires nonconsent storage within a 10-mile radius. Miami-Dade Code Section 30-476 is the county’s maximum nonconsent towing rule. Confirm current terms with the lot and the operator. Do not guess a dollar figure.
Ask the operator to confirm connector fit before anyone is dispatched. Typical gear is a 240V Level 2 source. Operators bring a native NACS plug, plus CCS or J1772 adapters for non-Tesla EVs. Not every truck matches every port.
Pick a top-up or a move after the operator quotes
Mobile charging is one recovery path, not the default.
Operators typically add 10 to 20 miles of range in 15 to 30 minutes of charging. That window is charging time, not an arrival time. Output still depends on their equipment and your car. Confirm the goal before you accept. You want enough range to leave US-41, not a full pack.
Ask the operator to confirm these points before you agree:
- Whether a mobile charge fits the symptoms you reported
- Whether their connector matches your EV
- Where the equipment would sit relative to the port
- What charging output they can actually provide
- Whether transport is the cleaner recovery
Charge Pro MIA is a referral line. It matches stranded EV drivers with independent local mobile rescue operators. It performs no work, owns no trucks, and employs no technicians. It sets no prices and promises no arrival time. The operator quotes you before starting and bills you directly.
Transport belongs in the talk when the car will not accept a charge. It also belongs there when another fault is in play. The transport provider confirms loading method, destination, access, and price. We do not set those terms. If a charge is the plan, name the next place with the operator.
The out-of-charge recovery page is the referral path once you’re already stopped. Mobile EV charging is the match when the car can still take energy. If you actually stalled on the Homestead entrance road, use that park-road guide instead. That road is SR-9336, not Tamiami Trail.
How we match you with an operator
Call when the EV has stopped on Tamiami Trail toward Shark Valley. You need an operator to weigh a mobile charge against a move. Charge Pro MIA does not perform the recovery.
Call (786) 963-2995 and we’ll connect you with a local EV rescue operator.
