A Hollywood Beach condo stall and a dead EV can share the same hour. Airport traffic from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International uses I-95 and US-1 beside those towers. The public plug you counted on never starts a session. The car still needs energy at the bumper. A mobile Level 2 source can come to the car. A local operator brings it when hunting another site is no longer safe.
Hollywood sits between a barrier island and airport traffic
This is Hollywood, Florida, in Broward County. It isn’t the California city with the same name. Census ACS 2019-2023 counts 152,935 residents. The 2024 estimate is 159,073. The city covers 27.251 square miles. It runs from the beach west toward Pembroke Pines and Miramar.
The Hollywood Beach Broadwalk sits on a barrier island. You reach it on the Hollywood and Sheridan Street causeways, or along A1A. Downtown Hollywood, Young Circle, and ArtsPark sit inland of that water. Emerald Hills, Hollywood Hills, and Driftwood sit farther west. The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood sits in the city. The Guitar Hotel keeps overnight parking full for hours.
Neighbors matter when you’re already low. Dania Beach and Fort Lauderdale sit north. Hallandale Beach sits south. I-95, Federal Highway, Hollywood Boulevard, and SR-7 (US-441) slice the city into different last-mile problems. A pin that only says Hollywood doesn’t tell an operator which one you’re in.
Florida Power and Light serves Hollywood. FPL EVolution is the utility’s public charging network brand. Check live status in the app you’re actually using. Charge Pro MIA doesn’t run those plugs or set their rules.
Older housing and heat shape the stall, not hills
About 74.7% of Hollywood housing was built before 1980, per Census ACS 2019-2023. Older apartments and condos often make a home Level 2 install a board fight. Many drivers here live on public plugs and garage pedestals. When that session fails, there’s no wall box waiting at home.
The ground is flat. Broward’s highest natural point is Pine Island Ridge, about 29 feet. Range here isn’t a grade problem. It’s heat, air conditioning, and time spent sitting. NWS Miami 1991-2020 normals put July and August average highs at 91F. A normal year sees about 64 days at or above 90F.
Recurrent Auto studied about 30,000 EVs. It found about 5% range loss at 90F and about 17 to 18% at 100F. AAA’s 2019 SAE-standard test found about a 17% range drop at 95F with the AC on.
Salt-laden humid air is hard on a 12-volt battery. Battery University notes that every roughly 15F rise halves lead-acid life. A car that sat a week in a Hard Rock garage may not wake. That’s a jump or an on-site 12V swap, not a hunt for a faster plug.
King tides and sunny-day flooding hit Hollywood’s low coastal streets. They run mainly September through November. Each pulse lasts about three hours. If standing water reached the charge port or the floor, stop plugging in. NHTSA warns residual salt in a flooded lithium pack can short later. A flood-exposed EV shouldn’t be driven or charged until it’s inspected.
Confirm the stall before you keep driving
A failed public plug is a local problem, not a map problem. Stay with the car if you’re in a legal stall. Read the screen on the vehicle and on the equipment. Save the exact wording. Don’t turn it into a guess.
Confirm you reached the site your navigation named. Compare the property entrance with Tesla’s current official tools, or with the charging app you used. A nearby pedestal isn’t always the one the pin meant. Don’t force a damaged connector. Don’t stand in a travel lane to photograph it.
Our guide to what to do when a public EV charger isn’t working walks through that check in order. Background on electric vehicles sits on the U.S. Department of Energy EV pages. Live status still comes from the tool you trust for that stop.
If the car still shows enough energy for a full named route, pick one verified destination. Drive there without extra loops. If the margin can’t absorb a wrong garage entrance on A1A, stop. If a closed ramp off I-95 would strand you, stop. Don’t search Beach, Downtown, and Emerald Hills while the number falls.
What a mobile Level 2 rescue actually adds
Charge Pro MIA is a referral line. We match stranded EV drivers with independent local mobile rescue operators. We don’t own trucks, employ technicians, or set prices. The operator quotes you before starting and bills you directly. The pros we connect you with are licensed and insured.
Those operators bring a 240-volt Level 2 source to the car. Teslas take a native NACS plug. Other EVs use a CCS or J1772 adapter. Typical charging time, not travel time, adds about 10 to 20 miles of range in 15 to 30 minutes. That’s enough to reach a site you’ve already verified.
They can jump or replace a dead 12-volt battery on site. Tesla and every major EV brand are in scope. An operator should decide the next step after seeing access, warnings, and remaining charge. Sometimes that’s energy at the bumper. Sometimes that’s a 12V wake-up.
Start with EV roadside assistance when you need that referral. If the pack is empty and the car is safely reachable, mobile EV charging is the energy-at-the-car option. Out-of-charge recovery covers cases where the car has to move before anyone can plug it.
Don’t guess how much energy you’ll get. Don’t guess how long the stop will last. Site access, the vehicle, and the operator’s equipment all change the plan. Confirm scope and price with the operator before you agree.
If you’re already on I-95 or a causeway
Florida Statute 316.194 covers a stop on a highway outside a municipality. Leave the vehicle off the main-traveled part where practicable. Keep a clear view from 200 feet each way. 316.194(2) exempts a vehicle that can’t practicably be moved. Inside the city, get out of a live lane as soon as you can do it safely. Occupants behind a barrier if one exists.
Florida’s Road Ranger Service Patrol is FDOT’s free highway service. Dial *FHP (*347). Road Rangers jump-start vehicles, do minor repairs, and change flats. They also tow a disabled vehicle from the travel lanes to the nearest safe location. FDOT District 4 covers Broward. It patrols the I-95 corridor from the Miami-Dade line north, plus portions of I-595 and I-75.
No Road Ranger material we reviewed on 2026-09-18 mentions EV charging. They can still jump a 12-volt battery or move you off the lanes. They don’t bring a Level 2 charge. That’s the gap a mobile operator fills.
If you’re on the Hollywood or Sheridan Street causeway, say which one and which direction. Barrier-island traffic doesn’t leave many legal shoulders. Don’t sit in a through lane while you compare apps. If there’s an immediate traffic danger, contact emergency services first.
For water on those low streets, see stalling on Hollywood’s low coastal streets.
Share the Hollywood that matches your pin
Hollywood covers beach towers, casino garages, hospital lots, and inland neighborhoods. A dropped pin beats a ZIP. Beach-side mail often uses 33019.
Name what you can see. Share the model, remaining percent, warning text, and whether the car powers on, shifts, and opens the charge port. Say whether a cable is still latched. Describe the last plug attempt. Mention a gate, height bar, valet stand, or garage ramp. Say whether you need range to roll, or a 12V wake-up.
Seminole Hard Rock and the Guitar Hotel are round-the-clock draws. Cars sit in those garages for hours. Memorial Regional Hospital, Young Circle, and Broadwalk stalls each have different access. Say the visible property name. Don’t copy an address from an unconfirmed charging listing.
If a wrecker is already on private property, Florida Statute 715.07 matters. The operator must stop and return the vehicle if you appear before it’s fully removed. You’d then pay no more than half the posted tow rate. Broward County Code Section 20-176.22 sets maximum nonconsent rates. Confirm the current posted figure with the operator and with Broward consumer protection. No verifiable dollar cap was available on 2026-09-18. Confirm the posted rate before you pay.
A stall that drifts south is still a local pin. See EV roadside assistance in Hallandale Beach if you’ve crossed that line. City-level charging notes live on the Hollywood EV charging page.
When to request the referral
Call when the public plug won’t start and you can’t confirm another reachable stop. Call when the car is silent after sitting. You may need a 12V check before anyone talks about a flatbed. Call when you need a plan to get the car to a legal, reachable stall first.
Charge Pro MIA doesn’t promise an arrival window. It doesn’t publish shop hours. The independent operator you speak with quotes the work, then does the work. Confirm access, price, and destination with that operator before you authorize anything.
Call (786) 963-2995 and we’ll connect you with a local EV rescue operator.
